Synthetic ice is a solid polymer material designed specially for metal-blade ice skates to skate. The most common used material is UHMWPE(Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene). The material has low coefficient friction, and about 90% like real ice to skate on. The UHMWPE ice rink boards are usually constructed by interlocking methods. Synthetic ice is also called artificial ice.
